A farmer may need a new or an additional access for agricultural purposes or an oil / gas company may need an approach into a lease site. A landowner may want to install a new approach or widen / upgrade an existing approach. In other instances, an applicant for a subdivision or a development permit may be required as a condition of approval to construct a new or upgrade an existing approach. In all of these instances the landowner / operator / applicant must first obtain the County's approval before installing or upgrading an approach. The following fee and security deposit apply to all approach applications:
First approach - agricultural purposes only (see Public Works Policy 5.5) - $500 refundable deposit. The cost of the third and additional construction inspections by the County will be deducted from the deposit at $50 per inspection.
All other approaches pursuant to Public Works Policy 5.5 - $200 plus a refundable security deposit of $500 or a survey / construction plan. The cost of the third and additional construction inspections by the County will be deducted from the deposit at $50 per inspection.
