Public Notification: Stettler Flood Study

AlbertaGovt-RedWillowCreek-Assesment

As part of the Flood Hazard Identification Program, Alberta Environment and Parks have hired Northwest Hydraulic Consultants Ltd. (NHC) to undertake the Stettler Flood Study.

The goal of the Stettler Flood Study, and the Flood Hazard Identification Program, is to help reduce future flood damages and increase public safety.

This study will assess and identify flood hazards along a 30 km reach of Redwillow Creek and a 4 km unnamed tributary through the Town of Stettler and Stettler County. Survey crews will be collecting river channel and ground elevation data as well as flow measurements to support new hydraulic modelling and flood mapping. Survey work will begin as early as October 1, 2022 and should be completed by summer 2023.

  •  More information about the Alberta Flood Hazard Identification Program and existing flood mapping across Alberta can be found at www.floodhazard.alberta.ca.
