Biography: Hi! My name is Earl Marshall, and I am the councilor representing the Erskine South - Warden Area. I have lived in the County of Stettler for over 50 years and my wife Dorathy and I have raised our daughter Tracey and son James in this incredible community.
I have been fortunate enough to be able to operate my own business in the County for 30 years now and I am always amazed at the hospitality and generosity of the people in our community; whether it is a business partner, employee or customer.
I have been serving on council for 6 years, 3 of which I have served as your Reeve. I have found these years on council very regarding, but also time consuming as we work to pursue and complete projects that will benefit the County and its residents for years to come. I am looking forward to working with our new council and administration in completing projects and taking advantage of future opportunities that arise in the coming years.

Committees: Council, Municipal Planning Commission, Agriculutral Service Board, Canadian Badlands Ltd., Central Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties, County of Stettler Disaster Services Committee, Starland/Stettler Regional Water Project, Stettler and District Family and Community Support Services, Stettler Town and Country Museum, Town of Stettler and Rochon Sands Annexation.
Biography: I was elected to my first term as a County councilor in October 2007. I have lived my entire life in the County of Stettler in the Byemoor Endiang ward, except for about a year and a half when I was employed with the Royal Bank. I was raised on the family farm northeast of Endiang, was active in the 4-H program and received my schooling at Endiang, Byemoor and Stettler. From a young age I took a keen interest in my community and have been an active volunteer for many years in many different organizations, committees and community events. Becoming a councillor seemed like a natural progression and the way to further serve the community. My wife Rosemary and I have two sons, Travis and Tyler.
Travis lives in Stettler where he is employed and Tyler is pursuing an Education degree at Red Deer College. Rosemary has been a school bus driver in the Endiang - Byemoor area for nearly 20 years. Our family operates a mixed farm producing grain, cattle and hay For 35 years we were successfully involved in the purebred-Simmental-business until dispersing in 2005. Our family was the recipient of the Farm Family Award sponsored by Northlands and the local Agricultural Societies. Dispersing the purebred herd is what has afforded me the time to seek the position of councilor for my area. I look forward to serving the Byemoor - Endiang ward and working with Council for the betterment of the County of Stettler in these changing and sometimes challenging times. Besides farming my interests include photography, traveling, reading, country music, community and friends.

Biography:
Hi, my name is Blake Chapman and I am the County Councillor for the Stettler Ward. I represent a lot of very good people in my Ward and it is a job I take very seriously. For more than fifty years, I have lived in the Stettler Ward and I am proud to say that most of my life has been that of Farmer/Steward of the land. When I was a little boy, my grandfather told me I would be a success if I left my land in better shape than when I received it. This has always been my life goal. My wife Donna is a registered nurse, a great cook, a wonderful companion and a good person. I have three children of which I am extremely proud; Silas, Kyle, and my favorite daughter Darien.
Along with my son Silas, we maintain a herd of five hundred and fifty Angus cows and hold an annual bull sale. If you know of anyone looking for Angus bulls, please send them our way. I used to enjoy whitewater kayaking in my spare time, but there seems to be very little spare time anymore so livestock and grass are my passion with the odd game of golf thrown in for variety.
With my background in Holistic Management, I hope to bring a dynamic to Council that balances the environmental, social and financial aspects of our community. It is a privilege to serve my community and county as the Councillor of the Stettler Ward.

Committees: Council, Municipal Planning Commission, Agricultural Service Board, Battle River Watershed Alliance, Buffalo Lake Management Team, County of Stettler Assessment Review Board, County of Stettler Disaster Services Committee, Fire-Joint town and County Fire Commission, Red Willow Waste Water, Stettler Seed Cleaning Plant No. 1, Stettler Waste Management Authority, Town of Stettler and Rochon Sands Annexation.
Biography:
My name is Wayne Nixon and I live 13 miles northeast of Stettler. With the exception of some time away for school, I have lived and worked all of my life within the County of Stettler.
My wife Loree and I have lived on our present farm since 1979. We have raised 6 children here and now have 6 grandchildren that frequently alleviate our empty nest syndrome. For several years we operated a dairy farm and for the last fifteen years I have worked for the wood shop, where we built truck box liners, tool boxes, garden sheds, cabinets etc. Loree worked several years for Home Care out of Bashaw and Stettler.
Our son Kent and his wife Tana and baby Josh live in Stettler. Kent also has three children; Brittany, Ian and Logan who live at Okotoks. Kent has a pipefitting business and Tana operates the Mortgage Centre. Cal and his wife Shylla and their children Hunter and Dawson live on a farm east of us. Cal works for Petrobank and during the summer, he, Shylla and myself put about 1600 acres of hay (hopefully twice). Our third son Cam is a power lineman and for DNR out of Stettler. Our daughter, Kara works for Backside Plumbing in Stettler. Jennifer lives and works in Edmonton and Jessica lives in Regina.
I attended grades 1 - 11 at Byemoor School, grade 12 at LTCHS in Red Deer. I graduated from Olds Agricultural College and also attended RDJC in Red Deer and the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Even after learning many reasons to the contrary, I still chose to be a farmer...go figure!
While living at various places throughout the county including Byemoor and Endiang, Gadsby and Donalda I played fastball, curled and played slow pitch as the years went on. Now I am sorry to say it's crossword puzzles and limited curling. As a fan of country music, it was a huge pleasure for me to be associated with the Stettler Country Music Jamboree. We spent two months each year preparing for our show and over the years I have made many lasting friendships. For the last several years of the show I was privileged to be the master of ceremonies.
I enjoy people and am looking forward to learning what municipal politics are all about. I hope that what I lack in experience I can make up with enthusiasm and a fresh perspective.

Committees: Council, Municipal Planning Commission, Agricultural Services Board, BioGas Project, Buffalo Lake Intermunicipal Development Plan Committee, Central Alberta Economic Partnership Program, County of Stettler Economic Development Committee, Municipal Development Plan Review Steering Committee, Parkland Regional Library Board, Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee, Regional Partnership Committee, South Buffalo Lake Waste Water, Stettler Public Library Board, Town of Stettler and Rochon Sands Annexation.
Biography: A sincere thank you to the residents of the Erskine/Buffalo Lake ward, the County staff and my fellow councillors for your valued partnership in building our community. In my first term as councillor I attended around 150 meetings, 40 appearances, 35 workshops and 30 conventions days, to gain information and build contacts to better serve our community. In my home office there is a substantial collection of council packages, memos, policies, by-laws and contracts that have received priority over my personal time. Susan White the editor of the Stettler Independent commented best in her editorial on September 19, "There is no switch that you simply flip and say, "Sorry I'm on my own time right now". The Erskine sports days, Nevis potlucks, town hall meetings, stops along the roads and the hikes around the lake all get connected to the Council Chamber.
Like most households the County has to focus or prioritize spending and workloads. At times projects seemed insurmountable, three years later the Endiang and Bymoor water project has started and the regional water project has its funding. The gravel roads are improved (some are being stabilized with cement), more paving has been done, a feasibility study on garbage gasification/generation has started and waste water projects are being planned.
In the game of baseball you need different players, varied pieces equipment and a good game plan (that might need tweaking mid game). The same is for the County, we are a collection of communities, with different talents, needs and interest.
As your elected councillor I will be: readily available, due my due diligence, bring your concerns to Council to decide upon, and to build our community together.
