The County of Stettler No. 6 is proud to formally announce two Sea Doo watercraft units, generously fundraised and donated by the Stettler Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) and the Stettler Volunteer Firefighters Association, are now officially in service, with the first volunteers from Stettler Regional Fire Department (SRFD) having completed training on the equipment earlier this month.
This donation marks a significant enhancement to the capabilities of the SRFD, with the County of Stettler accepting the associated costs for training, maintenance, and operational use. Volunteer firefighter training took place this summer and we are pleased to report the successful deployment of these units, now fully operational for rescue efforts. The County received these Sea Doos and transport trailer from the volunteers at the end of June 2024.
“We extend our gratitude to the Stettler Volunteer Fire Department, the Stettler Volunteer Firefighters Association, and the entire community for their unwavering support, time, and dedication in making this asset possible. The fundraising efforts of the volunteer firefighters have equipped our region with essential water rescue tools that will improve public safety and response efforts on Buffalo Lake. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Stettler Regional Fire Department as we work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
Larry Clarke, Reeve for the County of Stettler No. 6
SRFD plans to offer more SRFD members the opportunity to complete training in Sea Doo Watercraft rescue operations in 2025.
