Vegetation Management Program
Deadline to apply for Spray Exemption: *May 20 at 1 PM (*Date adjusted to acknowledge the Victoria Day Holiday on May 19)
As legislated under the Alberta Weed Control Act and Policy AG 3.02 Vegetation Control, the County of Stettler Agricultural Services Board will be conducting roadside vegetation control for invasive species in the Middle Third of the County (TWP Rd 40-0 – TWP Rd 37-0). Adhering to the Professional Vegetation Managers Association of Alberta standards, we will carry out the program for these reasons:
• Facilitate snow removal during winter.
• Mitigate the risk of wildlife collisions by enhancing visibility and sightlines.
• Enhance road durability by eliminating trees and shrubs whose roots can damage roads.
• Accelerate post-rainfall drying of roadsides
• Control and eradicate regulated weeds effectively.
If you would prefer to control weeds and brush, using methods that differ from the County’s program, you are required to fill out a Spray Exemption Form annually, the deadline of acceptance of these forms is May 19, 2025 1:00pm. Our program already states that there is to be not any vegetation control performed within 30 meters of your yard.
